I spent the winter of 2009 in New Zealand living in Wanaka, a great base for Cardona and Treble Cone ski resorts and only an hour or so drive to Coronet Peak and the Remarkables.

As another winter prepares to roll into New Zealand I am running down the top snow fields in New Zealand and why you should visit them.

Picton is the small gateway to New Zealand’s South Island, the town many travellers only visit fleetingly as they step off the ferry from Wellington. But Picton deserves a few days of any traveller’s time.
